Central Texas has a region known as the Texas Hill Country.  It stretches into parts of San Antonio’s northern suburban areas, and the western part of Travis County.  The region has a great deal of limestone and granite rocks and boulders.   This region has yucca, prickly pear cactus, and the Texas live oak.  The tree is an evergreen able to withstand extreme temperatures.

The New York Times said it was the number one vacation spot in the country in 2008.  A little known fact is that the region is now leads the nation in retirees supplanting the state of Florida.  The area is becoming more popular each day for its tranquil environment. Lance Armstrong and Lyndon Johnson are popular people that lived in the Texas Hill Country region.
