About ten miles northwest of New Braunfels in Comal County is Sattler, Texas. You might have heard the area by the names of Mountain Valley or Walhalla. The area got its name form William Sattler in 1856 when he opened the first post office in the area. The area has remained small and after World War II the population here was only about 25 people. For a time it remained virtually unchanged. Today Sattler has grown but remains small at about 2,000 people. From the 1960’s on it has seen steadier growth.
